(1) thanks Winter for taking pains about the books Savage bought for him (Smyth); refers to Furness' being finished with The winter's tale, which will soon be published. (2) praises Winter's Wreath of laurel and mentions the deaths of several prominent Shakespearians in recent years: Halliwell-Phillipps, Ingleby, Brinsley Nicholson, and others. Both letters written from Sycamore Farm, Radnor and accompanied by envelopes addressed to Winter.
